104 miles, 2500′ of climbing. Meet at Townie Bagels at 6 am PDT, ride out at 6:30. Our famous/infamous Box Canyon Century screams down valley past Indio/Thermal to other-worldly Box Canyon, the only climb on this ride. We’ll Pit twice on the way down, then stop near the top of the canyon for Roadie-Snacks!! Then we’ll head back with 3 Pits on the return. The pace is quick – just don’t burn all your energy getting there!! You will need energy for the return!! Be aware of the potential “influence” of heat and winds as the day progresses. We’ll have plenty of roadie support if nature throws a curve-ball. Bring $20 to tip our roadies – it pays for their amazing support, on this ride and others. This is THE perfect ride to prepare you for ALC Day 2, which is a weirdly similar ride but with way worse roads, lol. All skill levels are welcome! If any ride is too much, we will work with you on making sure you have alternatives to the entire route. You will have a great bike ride. That’s a win! And remember, safety is critical. We will be following all bicycling laws and regulations.
